I saw this post that reprints an Amazon review of the book form of Pope Benedict's encyclical over at the Ignatius Press staff blog Insight Scoop. The review is written by a self-described agnostic who is very impressed by the Pope's message.
There's a nagging feeling at the back of my mind that there are some Scrooges out there so huge that would react to this with "Ha - a(n quasi-) atheist approves of what the Pope says - that proves he's watered down the Faith." The proper reaction ought to be something like, "Look how the Pope can evangelize people with his writing. Even people far from the Church's faith are moved by it."
