Did I mention how much I like Chicago? A lot.
See, to my way of thinking, every sort of music there is except maybe Gregorian chant could be improved by having a really good brass section as a prominent feature. This is right in line with Chicago's take on rock - jazz it up with high-power, high-energy trumpets and trombones. Awesome. In the marching band we did a Chicago show and I loved it. As much oomph as some of their songs have, imagine them with the big, big sound of the Mighty Sound of Maryland behind it.
I always assumed that when I found out what it was "really" about I wouldn't really be able to like Twenty-five or Six to Four because it would be about drugs, like everything is. Apparently, though, it's really (at least in the primary interpretation) a song about trying to write a song at the last minute. Next time you hear it, listen to the words and hear how well they bear out that interpretation. Very amusing.
Oh, and in case you were wondering, vis-a-vis the title, as a band guy I can't start it. But no one's stopping the student section.
