Legend says that Advent Man comes to visit riding in his Advent Wagon pulled by four (non-magical) horses (three dark and one light). Some say that he rides a wagon rather than a sleigh because often there is not a lot of snow yet during Advent. His mission is to remind you of the true Reason for the Season - preparing for the impending end of the world. And Christmas.
Many people who don't know Advent Man misunderstand him - they think that because he is an old, tall, thin man with a grey beard who wants to wait until the actual start of the Christmas season for Christmas he is a no fun grouch. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The reason he is so big on Advent is that he loves Christmas so much. His Christmas parties are legendary: riotous, good clean fun - very Catholic - and he celebrates all the way until Candlemas. He is good friends with Santa Claus even though Kris Kringle sometimes butts in on Advent a little.
