Last year, I thought about how I hardly ever went to the Student Union, which certainly must be a center of student life.  So I wandered over there a few times to meet and mingle with new people.

One of those times happened to be Earth Day, which, as you might guess, is something of a hippie-fest on campus.  In honor of the day there were some celebratory-type events at the Union.  I got some orange chicken from the Panda in the food court.  I sat down at a table just outside the door of a room where there was an Earth Day comedy show...

"So," the student stand-up comedian started out, "who likes to masturbate?"  Shouts of "whoo!", applause, etc.  I pretended to ignore the show as he continued with a really explicit and detailed monologue on that theme.  After a while he switched over to a marijuana theme.  It soon became clear that it was going to be a dirty hippie-palooza all day. 

Probably the room had quite a number of young people who all were afraid to express disapproval and so look insufficiently cool/progressive/openminded or what-have-you.

Wouldn't smoking marijuana release carbon into the atmosphere? It doesn't seem like a very eco-friendly habit...

And I'm not even sure how the other topic relates to Earth Day, and I'm not going to bother trying to figure it out.
