While I can easily imagine people understanding why it would be wrong to treat robots a certain way, I find it much harder to imagine how we would ensure equal regard from our robotic counterparts.
Without a conscience or knowledge of natural law...and more importantly...without concern for their immortal soul, what reason would free-thinking robots have to avoid morally wrong acts? A robot would be like a very intelligent animal. Without a soul, it really couldn't sin any more than a lion sins when it eats a person.
