The ongoing national conversations about LGBT people, same-sex relationships, and traditional religious communities (often conservative Christianity in the US) can be described as 'at odds with one another.' The result of this adversarial relationship is that LGBT people often leave hostile religious communities that choose not to support them and often cannot find a new spiritual community to take its place. This panel discussion intends to introduce students, staff, and faculty to open and welcoming religious/spiritual communities that proactively affirm the social and spiritual value of LGBT people and their same-sex relationships as a viable alternative to hostile religious traditions.
