Suppose that you are a novelist or literary critic who is a follower of David Hume's philosophy. Is it possible that you would think of a stream-of-consciousness presentation as the most authentic possible presentation of the human person?

It looks like he wrote an autobiography. I wonder if that would hold any clues...
According to Christina Lupton, Tristam Shandy is a response to the empiricism of Hume and others.
(I didn't know any of this before I googled it...I'm speaking out of my specialization.)
