Was anyone else just a little confused when NBC started playing the theme music from the Civil War movie Gettysburg during its Olympic coverage? Are American teammates not getting along?

Same Old Story...

I'm no fundamentalist, but this version of the human evolution story (link via BBspot) sounds rather uncannily familiar to Genesis 2 to me.

Essentially, the theory goes that a change in diet and food preparation behaviors led to a radical transformation in intelligence and cognition......kind of like the story where a primitive man eats a certain kind of food and then gains a certain kind of knowledge that immediately leads him to make certain technological advancements in clothing?

Just sayin'.

American Idolatry: Part II

Having attended the American Idol concert, I can say for certain that David Cook most certainly deserved to win the contest this year. He was by far the most engaging performer of the evening (and there were sets from each of the top ten). His musical performance entertaining, and his stage persona was relaxed and charming. It might have been a bit of stage direction, but he took several opportunities to make it appear as though he was actually enjoying himself and reveling in the hard-fought victory.

American Idolatry

Tomorrow, I'll be taking Isabel to the Pop Tarts American Idol Live Tour concert. It will be our first attendance at a real concert (unless you count The Monkees 3/4 reunion tour my sister took the family to back in the 80s), although I'm not entirely sure anything sponsored by Pop Tarts can really be considered a bona fide music event.
Isabel is rather excited to see David Cook in person, although I must confess that I feel rather bad about the other nine performers, all of whom are being dragged across the country singing after being dubbed American Mediocrity. It feels rather like some kind of performance art indentured servitude for the runners-up, all of whom must be making desperate bids for one last shot at stardom if they whip together a strong enough fan base through one last round of live gigs...or face certain humiliation on broadway.

But to my point...does anyone know what a heterosexual adult male is supposed to wear to an event like this?

Obamaham Lincoln

Just a quick thought as I move stuff around my new pad...

I've heard and read several people try to counter-argue concerns of Obama's lack of experience by comparing him to Abraham Lincoln.
Is this comparison really in Obama's best interest?

After all, hasn't Obama made it a point to put forward claims that he will unite the country and peacefully negotiate differences with foreign aggressors...whereas Lincoln's biggest claim to fame was preserving the Union by military force?
