This is a sincere question, and hopefully any Protestants who happen to the blog will be willing to answer this:
How do those who believe in the Rapture know that it didn't already happen?
How do they know we all aren't already those folks who were left behind?

I realize this question was posted on 9-20-08; however, I just stumbled upon this website. Actually the word "rapture" is not even used in the bible. Scriptures talk about the 2nd coming of Christ. To answer the question...based on what scripture says will happen when Christ comes back we have not seen evidence of this. Namely the dead in Christ shall rise and we will be able to see Christ in the sky. There are numerous signs that will happen after Christ's return (here on earth). These are named the seal judgments. Some of these signs range from blood water, darkening of the sky and shorter days. For more detailed information on these please refer to God's Word in Revelation 6-22. One thought...if Christ has already returned and took up all his believers...dont you think we would have heard about that?? Just a question. To God be the Glory.

Thanks for the response, Josh.
It's not necessarily true that we would have had to hear about the rapture if it already happened. What if it occurred a thousand years ago, before the age of telecommunications? What if its occurrence was suppressed?
I suppose its also worth stating that different Protestant denominations have different views on how much time will pass (if any) between the Rapture and the Second Coming.
