As article after article comes in trying to connect Pope Benedict to the abuse of children, two thoughts popped in my head.
1. A lot of articles talk about how long it took for the Vatican to process trials or even how often priests may have even gotten off the hook. Has anybody compared this to how often a secular jurisprudence system lets criminals walk or takes what some would deem too long to process criminals? I'm not saying that we should be happy with long trial periods or lapses in justice...but trials have been messy things throughout human history, and they are no guarantees that justice is always served even in the most litigious system (in fact, justice might be served even less in such cases). Anyway, to people who think the Vatican system trial system is perilous, I'd like to remind them of a little case study from back in the day called O.J. Simpson.
2. Precisely where do all these self-righteous reporters and commentators think they got their despise for child abuse? If not for the proliferation of the Church, we'd probably still have Greco-Roman catamites, erotema, and minions.

You brought out some very good points. We pray to Jesus for True Justice and Mercy; so we pray for our Pope and all clergy. Blessed Easter.
