FoxNews is running a story on the revelation of 4th Century paintings depicting the Apostles.
Discovered in the Roman catacombs (and, as the article points out, revealed using lasers!), these are apparently the oldest known paintings. Of course, dating them three hundred years after the fact doesn't build much confidence in their accuracy...but it does say quite a bit about the origins of religious art.
Don't read the site comments over there, though, as they were becoming overwhelmed with Catholics-Protestant feuding.
